During my internship with Wingteam, I am spending approx. 20 hours a week with the Ben Franklin Institute, the Summit for Clinical Excellence. They are a meeting planning company producing 4-6 conferences a year throughout the country for professionals in the behavioral health industry (Psychologists, Marriage and Family Therapists, Addiction Counselors, Social Workers, Educators, Nurses, etc.) Each summit offers up to 24 CEU's. I am mainly working as Judi Beshella's assistant. Several of the things I've been working on is registering attendees and sponsors via the phone and submitting registration information into a Microsoft Access program. I then process their payments and send out confirmation letters. Each summit has a different itinerary with specific speakers, topics, dates, locations, etc. For the San Diego Summit (Oct. 1-4) and the Scottsdale Summit (Oct. 22-25) I have been updating the attendee/speaker handout primer, confirming summit sponsors and volunteers, updating emails and requests, and working on marketing strategies to increase the attendance. When BFI sets up their four day conferences, they also bring along a bookstore of the speakers books as well as general books. I have been in charge of the bookstore inventory for incoming and outgoing shipments. The week prior to the summit in San Diego, I packaged up a total of 46 boxes, weighing them, keeping track of their content inside, and finalizing them with UPS labels so they can travel to the Catamaran Resort and Spa, the host venue for the San Diego Summit. I was sad that I could not have traveled with BFI to San Diego and execute this conference especially because I have been doing so much work in the office, but am looking forward to being a part of the Scottsdale Summit during the end of October.
